General English classes

Students can choose either 10 or 20 hours of General English classes and can combine these with-

• Personal Study Programmes(PSP)
• English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
• Business English or 
• Cambridge Examination Courses.
• Maximum of 12 students per class
• (average 8). 

The Academic Director will assess each student on their first day by means of a written placement test and an oral interview. This will enable us to place each student in the correct level to learn English at the start of their course.

Progress in learning English is monitored by continuous assessment from the English language teacher, tutorials and internal tests.

International House Newcastle teaches through the communicative method and particular emphasis is placed on enabling the student to communicate effectively in English.

All International House Newcastle teachers are fully qualified teachers of the English language and most have many years of experience inb many parts of the world.

All English language students will receive a weekly work plan from their teachers and personal tutorials will take place on a regular basis.
